Alexa Capareda

Alexa Capareda trained in classical ballet and contemporary dance in her native Philippines, Austin, and Montreal before joining Balet Bratislava in Slovakia, where she had the privilege of performing Jiri Kylian’s Falling Angels and Six Dances. She began exploring her own choreography before leaving Europe, winning 3rd prize at the 2013 Festival of Choreographic Miniatures in Serbia for her choreographic debut. Currently Rehearsal Assistant for Ballet Austin II, Alexa also works as a dance artist with ARCOS Dance, Jennifer Sherburn, and Magdalena Jarkowiec. She co-produced and performed in Frank Wo/Men Collective’s Loose Gravel. She has presented solo work, collaborating with Austin-based sound artist Steve Parker, Lynn Lane’s Houston-based Transitory Sound and Movement Collective, and Austin Camerata. She has a BA English, minor in Theater and Dance from UT-Austin. Alexa is thrilled to return as a resident artist of Performa/Dance, having performed in its two previous productions, the Austin Critics Table Award-winning Ignite and 4x3: Four Works by Three Choreographers.
